Ever since seeing the Guana Batz live at the old Adam and Eve's Club in Leeds I've been a rockabilly/psychobilly fan .. but what's the current equivalent?
Brian Setzer still tours I think (ive got a great DVD of the BSO live in Japan) and the Batz still perform in the States (though one of the original line up (diddle?) is now sadly dead) but what happened to the likes of the Long Tall Texans and King Kurt and other fantastic bands like The Prisoners who were exceptional : In From The Cold is a great album by any standards..! Where's all the 50s and 60s retro cool gone?

i too love this stuff, I have a few british 80's albums, bluecats, Restless, Stray cats, crazy caven etc, and most of the Cramps albums.
the 50's 'real' rockabilly is cool too (to me, at least), the best being the Johnny Burnette Trio, very raw and still sounds as fresh as when first recorded..

Oh yes, and I do have 'My daddy is a vampire', Wreckin' crew and Mutant Rock, by the meteors! lol

The Texas Chainsaw Orchestra.
Saw them in London on Saturday - very tight musically and great fun too. smile

Seconded for the Johnny Burnette trio.

As said still sounds fresh today.

Much good stuff to be heard on the 'Mark Lamarr' show on Radio 2. (when it returns).
Although wont find any Psychobilly there.

I am a bit fan of Robert Gordon.

His last album wth Chris Spedding was prettygood old style Rockabilly versions of Elvis era songs.
