Anyone got a GameRacer seat...?
Discussion
Hi all,
I have recently ordered a GameRacer Pro seat from www.gameracer.co.uk and was wondering if anyone had one of these...? I have used a couple of other types before and they seemed a bit flaky. As this is the first one I have bought and I have bought it on spec, I am looking for some reassurance that I haven't bought a lemon as it wasn't that cheap.
It's got a genuine Corbeau seat on there and is said to be significantly weightier in it's construction than many of the other offerings out there so hopefully will be OK.
I plan to use it with my Driving Force Pro and GT4...

Yes I have one , best purchase ever made, cannot play racing games without this! makes forza 2 a whole different game.
I researched quite a few and found this best value for money.
You will not regret your purchase
Phew, that makes me feel better...! Should be here any day now...! I will be playing GT4 though as that's all I have right now...!!! *excited*I researched quite a few and found this best value for money.

Nope, but I am working with a couple of partners to produce our own variant..
initially based around the g25 setup and both pc and ps3.
We're building a one piece GRP cockpit style unit and a open framed aluminium section one.
Both are designed to be stylish as well as functional, and come in part and fully built configurations.
I might be after a few test drivers once we've got the prototypes up and running.
Were also aiming to take one of them to the circuits and load it with a Tuscan model and let people drive the circuit we're at... I may have to let FWdrift have a go in the real tuscan first though ;-p for his excellent work on the model...
I'd be interested in your thoughts on your seat, and what you like/dont like about it..

I've got a gamer seat, superb for racing games and just using as a general chair for other standard controler type games.
Bought the alcantara one from here:

Why are you not looking at the xbox market as well, seems silly to narrow the demographic by a third???
Comments on the seat, a little narrow for the 'larger' adult, any further ridgidity on the steering wheel would be good, but in all, i have to say its a pretty good piece of kit for the money.
How about adding a sandwich/ drinks tray on one side and a controler pocket on the other?

<LOL> yes we will look at the Xbox, but I dont think the xbox will use the same wheel, so I cannt demo it at the moment. They all use the same type of fittings though so shouldnt be a problem..Graham

At the moment I have both pc and sony hardware and a g25 wheel so thats the starting point..
Width is an interesting point, as we'll make our own seats. in the cockpit version it will be part of the moulding in the ally frame ( which is designed to look good as well as be functional, well if you like engineering ;-) ) the seats are separate in either GRP or carbon !!
We also plan some optional body parts for that one as well..
We're also talking to motorsports harness peeps about some special non certified belts as an option... but is that an option too far, would you feel silly strapping yourself in to a game simulator in the front room?
Ultimately with the Ally framed unit we're looking at upgrades for motion as well, but they are a way off still. ALthough having a full on professional games programmer and an electronic engineer on tap will help there...
Hopefully in a few weeks we should have one of the prototypes up and running. Were currently playing with an mdf test rig for positioning and sizing, whilst also doing the styling..
Its an interesting project, and worst case is all the team end up with one

Very
But some people wear helmets playing sims http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCxssEDaL-Q loose ceiling tiles maybe?
I've been using a Gameracer seat for a couple of years now and would strongly recommend it for any racing game.
IMO it's well made, rigid, comfortable and fully adjustable.
DFP mounts fine and the Microsoft wireless wheel will fit but not so well (couldn't find a way to clamp it, so had to resort to using velcro).

I'd always quite fancied one of these, I'm sure it'd go well with the G25
But the cost has always been a little off putting...
Not to bothered about looking like an arse, I have a Wii in the front room, so.... yeah.... I don't look like an arse playing tennis!
Be interested to see what the project looks like Graham

For the man on a budget..
I am thinking about building one of these, its about £20 worth of MDF.

But using one of these 'X rockers' for a seat instead

Total cost will be less than £100 and you get a subwoofer under your arse for when you go over the curbs and stuff and speakers behind your ears so you can hear the accidents you are causing behind you.

Hedders, love the budget seat, do you have a pattern/template or set of drawings for it you'd be willing to pass on???
The missus would go mad if I built one, so that sounds like a good enough reason to build one to me!!!!

Plans?? That sounds complicated! I just started building it by sitting in the seat and holding things to see where they needed to be and making sure i put some wood there. To help you out a bit though. The side panels are 2ft high by 4ft long because i went and bought one sheet of MDF and had them cut into four equal bits and went from there.

That looks great!!
Must not buy one though, that'd be really stupid!
Is it as good as it looks? And a worthwhile addition to the G25?
Awesome. Rock steady, over-engineered with huge bolts etc, proper Corbeau seat is super-comfy, fully adjustable in seconds so you can have your mates round and the tall-boys and short-arses don't lose out, whole shebang strips down in 60 seconds flat for storage. I personally am not sold on the G25. I tried one and preferred my Driving Force Pro. Not much clutch support and I found the gearbox gate on the G25 very weak. Given my DFP was £50 brand new from an online game store, three times the price or more for the G25 just didn't stack up for me. If you already have a G25, then defo get a seat. The GameRacer Pro is the Rolls Royce of seats for sure...Must not buy one though, that'd be really stupid!
