X5 Suspension

Went to look at a 4.4 X5 today as an alternative to 'er indoors' Range Rover. Seemed fine and very powerful. I have a 540 Touring and was told it's similar to that but sitting up higher and that seems a reasonable statement. However the suspension did seem quite bouncy. It felt more solid than the Range Rover but was much more bouncy over B roads. Could this be to do with shagged shocks or is the a charasteristic of the car.
