Pretty sure it's less than 500 miles leeway mate. Either way CHECK. I wanted to take mine in - at 900 miles - before Christmas as I knew my Christmas/New Yr travels would take me well over 1200 and my dealer had to get written OK from BMW. They WILL invalidate your warranty if you don't get BMW approval.

just spoken to customer service and they are allowed to go past 1,250 miles as long as it's done before 2,000 miles and the dealer does not know of any issues surrounding this service that affected the service being later than suggested and they are prepared to honour the warranty, going to fax me confirmation, so it appears E92's are slightly different in that respect

Just do it sooner rather than later. Whatever the fax says, it won't stop people turning up their noses at trade-in time.

Zod is right. Also my dealer were CATAGORICAL that they had to get OK from BMW. Who ever's right or wrong, best dot all the Is and cross all the Ts even if it appears unnecessary - it'll save a lot of questions at resale.

Had mine done, but isn't it pathetic? Quack science and worrying for a dweeb come resale..

covered on all the paperwork, got a fax off BMW about the under 2000 mile bit, dealer has confirmed it has been checked and no damage and confirmed that they will honour any issues should it ever come to that, amazed some dealers miss this still, but 2000 miles seems to be the max so it's not as critical on the E92 as it was on the E46, my car was done at 1426 so i think we're safe
