Does anyone use the MMC card slot in their blaupunkt head units?
Have got fed up of CD's skipping (esp on 2nd gear cam change
) so I brought a 4 Gb SD card and can't get it to work.
Have only dumped about 1Gb's worth of mp3's on it in 4 folders so far, but all that happens is the head unit flashes 'reading' and after about 15 mins I get fed up and put the DAB back on.
Have tried formatting the card via the head unit then putting the music back on but no joy - same thing happens.
Am I doing anything stupidly wrong or am I just too impatient?

MMC or SD card slot? If it's an SD card slot and you've used a 4GB card it may not have support for SD HC cards (over 2GB)?

Yes I've used it in the past without problems but I think there is a limit to the size of card you can use and I'm pretty sure 4GB is too big. I think the limit is 1GB.
bollox. i thought getting the biggest bang for my buck would be the way forward.would / could a 4Gb SD card be supported if I only used upto 2Gb of it?
As others have said, the majority of head units that have SD card slots will only accept up to 2Gb of memory, although there are a few new units on the market that will support 4Gb SD cards ...
I have a JVC headunit in mine, as the original had been removed by the former owner, for some strange reason
I play most of my music through the SD card - It's easy to update with new tracks, you can hold a couple of CD's worth of music without having to store the cases in your car, and your music will not skip over bumps! Never really had a problem with CD's skipping, but imho the SD card is just more convenient.
I guess hooking up my iPod is the next step!

Capacity is great, but if it sounds crap there's no point, I couldn't listen to anything on the DAB54, just grated on me, v. tiring listening to it.
It does the job is probably the politest way to put it, but I've got a decent system in the house when I want to actually listen to music. Sound's never going to be brilliant in these cars anyway!! To the OP- SD is better than the CD- I can get that to skip when changing from first to second!! Jez O said:

I quite liked the SD card but like others here I found the BP unit a bit awkward to use, looks a bit naff and doesn't sound that good. Swapped for an Alpine unit with iPod adapter and dynamatted the front speakers enclosures. Now i can listen to the radio on the motorway without it driving me mad - which is nice.
