Just wondering how you extinguish the pad warning light after changing to non OEM pads on an '03 Golf. Is it a case of making a short across the two wires or does it require a software reset by computer?

Thanks for any advice!

It is just a case of shorting the two together. Basically when the pads wear out the link will be broken and that switches on the light. A diagnostics re-set isn't needed.

think you have fitted the wrong pads cause even non genuine pads come with or with out the wear sensor, bridging the wire works on the earlyer cars but on the later one it's joined into the abs sensor as well and i think bridging it will keep the light on as it relies on the sensor to melt thus joining the two together which is why the new pads come with the sensor on them.
but its difficult to tell which setup you have without looking.
