OK I tried to find out the answer from BT but seriously I do wonder about BT.

Currently I have my broadband line which I also use for fax and phone with Tiscali, I send alot of faxes overseas and Tiscali are just so much cheaper than BT

The problem is im about to move to a new office and got caught out last time when you move trasnfer the old number over and then have to wait up to 15 days for the broadband to be sorted by Tiscali,

I can live with a few days no broadband but more than 2 weeks is really difficult,

I am therefore thinking to go with BT broadband on that phone line, my two questions are

1) The current BT number at the new site even if I get it broadband ready now when I swap the number and take my current number to that site will I have the same problem with BT or do they have more control as its all their system ?

2) Could I have broadband with BT on that line but also sign up with Tiscali to use for my faxes or can it not be split like that ?

Have you thought about one of those email fax things - e.g:

(first link off google just to give you an idea), it would probably work out cheaper still?

I know exactly where you are coming from and have just been through this myself (house move not office but same problem).

Your basic problem is not the phone number but the phoneline itself. If the previous owner of your new property had broadband on the line then it will take up to 12 working days to remove the "tag or marker". I thought I could overcome this by taking a new phone number at the new house but I still had the same problem as the previous owner had BT broadband - it took BT 8 days to remove the marker and get my service active.

I'm afraid there is nothing you can do to overcome this. YOU WILL be without broadband for at least 10 days. The only option is to get Virgin Cable Broadband if it's in your area - this doesn't involve a phone line so no marker problems etc. Alternatively dont move offices until your line is active?

Dont get Virgin Broadband. The most useless bunch of wasters I have ever had the torture of dealing with. If I explain, I risk going into a 2000 word rant. Basically ended up seriously out of pocket and weeks on end with no service.

Thinking of getting a combined TV and broadband package for home from SKY, anyone had any experience of dealing with them?
