Why isn't there a 335d Convertible??

Any ideas on why the 3-series convertibles don't get the 335d engine?

The 330d is almost 40k so is it a cost restriction?

Maybe the torque will just bend the convertible chassis in half

Seriously though it does seem that they're missing a trick, I'm sure that there'd be a market for it if it was released. I use a 335d coupe at work, great car!

BMW say there's no market for it personally think there should be the option but they say the 330d is plenty enough.

No 320d convertible either, despite there being a 320d coupe.

Personally I can't imagine the appeal sitting in a convertible with the top down with the sound of the devil's fuel clattering away.......

I just think it's a combination they have missed..

Good performance, good economy, the roof comes off and it'll have great residuals..

That's what the stealer told me when I ordered the Z4MC back in June -- still no sign of them, and I'd only want one once supply had started to exceed demand

Having had a 320i convertible for a day today I can honestly say I've never driven a car with so little power.

My wife was up for buying one and we thought it would be as good to drive as her 320d Touring. How wrong were we! Whilst it's a a good car, the word underpowered doesn't even go near it. I was told I could place an order for a 320D convertible but there would be no discount as demand would outstrip supply. It would also be around £35k new and I can buy a 330D touring for £5K less (nearly new) and possibly even a 335d Touring which would be even better.

The 335D convertible would really be a fantastic car.

When we dyno'd a load of 335d's and 335i's the D's were a darn sight quieter than the i's so I don't buy the noise issue ?

There's about £20,000 difference between a 335d & a 635d convertible, with toys.

I doubt they've overlooked it. I have no doubt that there will be one eventually, the E46 Cab didn't get a 320Cd until late on and a 330Cd even later (all manuals for some reason, wEiRd).

Agreed. I had a 320i M Sport whilst the dealer waited for the V5 they lost for my 335d. Appaling engine. 320d has it beaten in every aspect; Power, torque, speed. The 320i doesnt even make a nice noise! The car we had was an Msport and over 36k! More than I paid for the 335d with only 6k on the clock!
