Hi guys,

A very good friend is just about to buy a Z4M Coupe from a BMW dealer. There is no running in service stamped in the book........he says it is becasue it is a new model and does nto need to be stamped up etc.

It is a March 2007 Z4M coupe with 5200 miles on the clock..........should we expect to see a stamp in the book or is he telling porkies!? In my eyes if it is not stamped it is not done and the warranty is void!

if it's not done then don't even consider it, BMW cannot sell them through the AUC if it;s been missed as the warranty is effectively shot, whoever is telling you is quite simply LYING

My dealer told me to make sure I had the running in service done or it would void warranty

Hold up, first thing to do is check with the original supplying dealer whether the running-in service was done! I took mine in for its 1200-miler and forgot to take the service book. Pitched up the next day with it and it was duly stamped by the dealer.

If the dealer has a record of the service being done, then they may be prepared to stamp the book.

it was not stamped in the book and is not on the BMW central system so the deal is off!

Of course if it's cheap, it could be a bargain?

I was offered one with no running in service by Williams Manchester. They said BMW would not warrant the car, but they would, so not a problem. So long as I had it serviced with them things would be OK. However it wasn't any cheaper, they offered me nothing for trading my Alpina, so I walked and bought a perfect one. There's lots of the around.

I got offered one back in July when i bought mine and I have struggled to get a decent p/ex this week, god knows what it would have been like without the proper history. If they are prepare to warrant it and prepared to guarantee market value on it once you've finished wiht it and it's a few k cheaper then it might be worth considering but i'd want 5k less
