Hi All,

After chaning the rad I discovered that the fan connector had overheated and on further investigation that the 2nd fan has its live wired to the first fan connector and the second fan connector?? I can only assume that this was because the previous owner wanted both fans to come on at once rather than staged (if it is staged?). I'm also assuming that this is what caused the connector to burnout. Anyway, all wired correctly and now only the first fan fires up. How do I test the 2nd fan (it does when connected to the 1st fan terminals).

Cheers all,

Rob

There have been so many different implementations and 'mods', I would suggest having a look behind the fusebox. You could try making sure the second fan fuse & relay are operational (if you know which they are).

Nope, no idea which they would be! I'll have a look at the Bible later and see if it casts any light.

Yup, but many consider the modwise stuff as the norm as well....

At least I know mine is absolutely unique wink You could have one off the ecu & one off an otter switch (swirl tank or rad, IIRC you have both bungs?) as you have twin relays already?

My Griff 500's did not seem to match any of them. The second fan was on a lashed-up relay and fuse that were stuffed behind the main fusebox.

Its possible that a similar setup failed on your car, and the lives were connected as a work-around.

With Dave (spend)'s help, I managed to do some wiring changes and use a spare fuseway and relay to power the second fan.

I hate the Griff's electrics!
