colin mcrae dirt. it is a million times better than sega rally, and once you adjust your driving style for the breaks and handling like no other driving game it is quite good.


but the co-driver is so ing annoying, and you can't change it either.

They are quite different from one another. Dirt is a proper rally simulator, whereas Sega is off road circuits against others with the emphasis on fun, but not realism.

Dirt for a serious rally simulator, Sega for a laugh with your mates.

I would never refer to Dirt as a serious rally simulator, the handling and physics are laughable, it's enjoyable but definitely errs on the side of Arcade rather than realism, see Richard Burns Rally for a proper rally sim.

I don't think Colin McRae has ever tried to be a sim, it's always been more of an arcade game, CMR2 was about as close as it got to realism, I'd file it under the same category as Sega Rally, they're both so far removed from reality as to make no difference.

When I went for a days trial rallying at silverstone in a Mk2 Escort I thought to myself how similar it felt to CMR2, but the later games feel so detached from whats actually going on as to be totally alien.

The Colin McRae games are neither arcade nor sim. They strike the balance between playability and simulation.

If you want arcadey buy Sega Rally, if you want sim buy Richard Burns Rally. If you want the perfect balance between the two, get Colin McRae DiRT.

I got Saga Rally a week or so ago.
It great fun for a laugh but not particularly involving. Definately not a simulation of any sort!! Probably best viewed as a fun way to spend 20 mins racing head to head with some mates with a few tins of lager before watching the footie on telly.
