Hi, I'm looking at various heatshields to replace my standard fiberglass unit.
1) Racing green is selling fiberglass replacement heatshields which is the normal standard unit.
2) Steve Heath....look the biz .....are these any good.
3) V8Enhancement which look nice......but are these any good??

Does it help to fit them both sides or is it just waste of money.
Want to start with some engine detailing....
Thanks Baz

Pasco, where do you bolt the V8Enhancement to the engine or do they wrap around the exhaust. Steve Heath slots in the powers steering pump which is not easy from what I hear. Both V8E and SH look very nice indeed.
Thanks

Leven also do a rather good stainless steel heat shield - not mentioned on their web site ( http://www.leventechnology.co.uk/index.htm ) as far as I can see, however I know they do one, as I have an example installed on my Griff cool

The SHENG heat shield normally takes a couple of minutes to fit. Slacken off two bolts, slide in and tighten up. There have been a couple of cases where the lower bolt has been stubborn and required some persuasion to free it but the vast majority have simply fitted in place. By mounting the heat shield on the engine block, there is no contact with the the main source of heat the unit is trying to shield the otter switch etc from i.e. the exhaust. In terms of effectiveness, I have measured exhaust manifold temps of 460+ degrees yet the heat shield was only at 80 degrees - the same temp as the water in the swirl pot.

Following on from Steve's comments, above. I installed the SHEng shield on the right side of the engine bay - easy 5 minute operation. The left side is more difficult and there isn't really the clearance if you have the 500, unless you replace the fan belt with a shorter one - it will foul on the tensioner pulley. But as Steve has pointed out before, you don't really need the heat shield on that side.

Nothing to do with the question in the post, but what are the small-bore pale blue pipes from the rocker covers to the front of the car for?

PS Carbon plenum looks great!!

What Pasco said - the V8 enhancements shields work a treat - easy to fit and effective.

Hi Guys, thanks for the help. I've bought the SHENG heat shield and hopefully they will do the biz for me. Couldn't really make my mind up as both look great and both seem to do the same job. Couldn't resist buying the swirlpot cover and front and rear drop links whilst shopping on the SHENG site.....Yes I know it's sad.

Nut, those blue hoses lead to 2 oil breathers, these get rid of any pressure build-up in the engine, works great with a small oil drain valve on the bottom of the breather. The engine is a 5.2 liter John Eales & yes the plenum is very nice indeed. Overall it's a pretty fast car but it can go much faster reading all the other threads on this site......coilpacks is the next step up!!!
