Hi all,

Does anyone know if Knockhill Speed Sunday and Hot Marques events are ok for spectators ? I fancy getting some panning practise in again, been months since i've taken any motorsports shots, getting itchy fingers winkbiggrin

Their website states there is a Speed Sunday event on 27th January: 10am - 4pm, and a Hot Marques on 16th February: 1pm - 4pm.
Anyone know which would be the busier event ? I'm guessing the more exotic machinery (caterhams, westfields, porsches, etc...) world would more likely be at the Hot Marques day ?

(...though i've got a feeling it might come down to which day the weather looks best for wink)

Thanks smile

Cheers.

Both would be ok for spectating. You can get shots anywhere I would imagine. I would also think both would be busy.

Might see about going myslef on the Hot Marques one as I will be home for it......... and I have new brakes laugh

Both suitable for spectators. Believe the Speed Sunday would be more entertaining (i.e. plenty wreckage potential) although this is only hearsay, have never been, just seen some scary footage. More likely to see interesting (but intact) cars at the Hot Marques though, usually a fair assortment from kit cars to Lambo/Ferrari.

Speed sundays basically chavs go banger racing and they will insist on playing happy hardcore very loudly over the PA system and you get to pay for the pleasure of this

Hot marques are very few spectators and normally some quick machinery going round and sometimes a few race cars testing. And free entry

After attending nearly every track day,hot hatch, top marques event in the last 2 years I can tell you this...if you want entertainment and the high possibility of getting great pics of cars going off into the scenery go to the speed sunday events!
If you want to get cold and bored but see some nice cars going round try the top marques events!

I will be there on sunday usually snapping around about the first few corners, say hello if you see me! Hopefully have a nice shiny Nikon D300 to try out smile

I should be working the tower on the February 24th Speed Sunday and will absolutely NOT be playing Happy Hardcore as I can't bear it!

To be honest, KH has made a big effort to get away from the 'Hot Hatch' chav image for the Speed Sundays (I'm thinking specifically of the idiots that bring a bucket up to the track and then try and crash it into everyone - was it 'Team Gimps' that had the footage up on Youtube?) and have introduced more rules and regs to make it safer and enjoyable. Now, for example, your car must have either an MOT or be submitted to an on-site scrutineering test to ensure it's safe to go out.

Of course, there is still a Hot Hatch element to the day but you will find that this now tends to be supplemented by a more diverse selection of petrol heads, some of whom bring along some really interesting metal...

Cheers,

Gylen

Cheers, I like your style of pics, some crackers.
I saw a couple of guys with SLR's, you didnt have a red and black jacket with sponsors on it did you??
I spent a while at duffus then the last hour or so at clarks. Trying to track the cars in the wind wasnt easy!
First immpressions of the d300 are good, not all that different to the d200 to be honest but that was the first time I had used it in anger and wasnt really concentrating due to the previous evenings alcohol still numbing my brain!!

There is KDMC bike and SMRC car testing on all day next sunday so weather permitting I will be down to get some practice with a clear head!

No that wasn't me, think i saw the same guy though biggrin

I actually didn't make it to the far side of the circuit, just the main straight and hairpin. I tend to get some static detail shots once the cars have finished.
I'll have to take a full wander round the circuit next time smile

Think my next outing will be the Hot Marques event on the 16th Feb (weather permitting, as always wink)

Cheers.
