Hi Guys,

I've been doing a bit of spreadbetting on the financial markets, (mainly DJIA) over the last six months and having some fun and some decent results... some bad ones too over the last couple of days! whistle I've been using Finspreads because I liked the charting packages, but I've found the platform to be a bit... unstable. Charts freeze occasionally, won't update the prices and so won't let you place a bet or close out just when you want. Can make things a bit fraught when scalping and it won't let you close out a trade immediately!! furious

Is this the norm with all trading company internet packages... could it be my connection/ laptop?

Thinking of changing companies and I was wondering which firms you guys use and why. Obviously I would prefer to use a company that's relatively well known ( ie won't go bust and take my meagre amounts of wonga with it!) and that comes with a decent charting package. I would be grateful for all your input/ recommendations.

Many Thanks in advance.

Johnny

IG are the biggest UK best spread betting company and have the best charts in my opinion.

I will declare an interest as I work for them but I was also a customer for years. Try them and see.

Yes, IG Index. Also, CMC Markets. These both have the most reliable platforms if not the best spreads (and frankly what is the point in having 1 pt spreads if you can't close your position because the platform is being an arse; or in fact can't open a position until it's already moved 10 points).

I've heard lots of bad things about the likes of Finspreads, Capital Spreads etc.

Thanks Limpsfield.
I've heard others speak pretty highly of them/ you. As a customer, were you scalping or positioning? Sorry to be so inquisitive ( if I am, tell me to get lost!) but if I'm going to change companies I want to ensure my new setup has a stable platform that can move quickly and suits scalping.

Many thanks again.

We have clients who do all sorts - best advice with any of this stuff I think is just give it a go and see how it suits your style.

Totally agree. Looks like I'll give IG a look. Thanks again for input.

If you decide to open an IG account have a look at their ad thats running in most financial publications, they will credit your account with £100 so long as you deposit £500. I opened my account and then saw the ad the next day which was a touch annoying! frown

One thing I will say about IG is that they are far better than the others when it comes to FX and Equity options

Apologies, you're quite right. It's cityindex who have that offer at the moment. Shows how much attention I was paying! Incidentally, I would also recommend IG with CMC a close second.
