No headlights.
Discussion
I came home from work this morning and my lights were fine.Switched off and opened the doors to the garage. When i got back in the car i switched the lights to side lights which were fine.then went to headlights, but nothing.I have main beam, and i can hear the control boxes clicking in the back when i switch to the different positions.I have even checked the ribbon cable behind the switch and that was ok.Went in to the boot. The box marked light switching unit looked fine but the box marked dim/dip unit had a burn mark near one of the connectors, with one of the wires broke off.I smelt the box to see if this just happened, but there was no smell coming off of it.I,m wondering if this could have happened a while back,as there looks to have been some work there in the past with a scotch lock in place.Have i found the answer with this dim/dip unit or should i be looking at the light switching unit.I will post some pics later of what i found.Any help would be most appreciated.
Years ago, the same box on ours had 1 burnt pin & the lights would randomly go out (side lights & full beam were fine). Walldonway ended up replacing the loom & the box under warranty.
I remember seeing threads on here not long after about people just upgrading the pins/plugs to larger ones on the box, as the resistance is too large in the standard (small) ones....

Ive uploaded a couple of pics of the dim/dip unit.Sory for the quality of the pics, but as you can see from this one, taken from the top.You can see someone has already messed with it.(note the scotch lock)

Second one is from the side and you can see the burn marks to the casing. Is this typical of what happens?

There is a lot of current that can go through these, especially if someone has put 100w headlight bulbs in
I've re-wired my lights with a direct feed from the battery and relays, so that the TVR wiring just trips the relays now. This combined with new reflectors and PIAA bulbs made a huge difference to the lights, plus the weedy TVR-spec wiring has an easier life now.

Ive got xenons on these. But these draw less power than standard bulbs. So i take i just have the same problem that affects all....Crappy component quality.
