Suspension setup...done properly
Discussion
So, since my 4.2 blew up before Xmas, I've had a full rebuild, including (ahem) a little bit of headwork. And I had new Gaz Gold coilovers to go on. They were put on at the same time, but the car never felt that good on the road. We also found the throttle cable was wrong in some way so we were only getting 60% of full throttle.
So, Monday, off it went to Sebring in Wisbech to get new throttle pots, idle speed set, throttles balanced, suspension setup and.
FOr a start, it absolutely flies now. I mean, I've had some fast stuff in the past, but now it's just astonishing. And quite scary.
But the suspension setup is simply incredible. I'm 30mph quicker down some of the bumpy (very bumpy) B roads around here. To say it's a seachange is an understatement. Matt at Sebring raised the ride height, softened it all off and made sure the wishbone horizontal alignment was done properly - apparently most suspension fitters have them pointing too far out of shape, so the whole setup is flawed. It still feels bumpy, but when you look down you realise you're going much faster than before and still feel comfortable.
So, if you have a Cerb and you don't think the handling is that good, spend a couple of hours with Matt at Sebring in Cambs - you really will not regret it.
