impreza sti ecu remap??

im looking at buying a version 6 sti can they be re-mapped to run on 95ron petrol as that is all we get in ireland.

Yes it can, and there are people in ireland who will do it. It will absolutely kill the power though.

by how much will it kill the power??
for instance say the sti is running 300bhp what will it drop too??
i would have to get it mapped though, rather loose a bit of power than blow the engine.

Could possibly be a reasonable assumption that tuning for 95RON rather than 100RON might be around a 5% drop in power? Its not that ismple really but at a rough guess?

Despite the fact you say you have 95RON only in Ireland i bet my salary you can buy decent Octane booster to bump the Octane rating up a bit, even if only to 97/98RON. In anycase the car will adjust itself to run 95RON eventually. Reset the ECU then start running it and it will adjust accordingly, but the Octane booster route would be my preference rather than mapping the car down.

Can you really not get any super unleaded in Ireland? Surely they have it!

octane booster would work out seriously expensive in the long run though.
would rather get it mapped for the proper fuel than have to pay for an expensive repair bill!!!

only 95ron in ireland, we have shell v-power but im fairly sure thats only 95ron with a cleaning additive. there is talk of one of the petrol companies starting to supply 99ron because there is now a growing demand for it but nothing concreate yet.

You're probably paying similar prices to us yet you're only getting 95RON, what a con!!

just worked it out there its 85 pence sterling a litre and about 89 for v-power, about 2 years ago it was roughly about 70 pence a litre!!! better than £1.05 sterling anyway!!!

You have to be careful with V-Power on the mainland as well.
100RON in Germany, pop over the border to Belgium and it's 95RON.
That is a serious potential for a big engine bill!

Surely it would be easier and less expensive for Shell to produce one V-Power standard for all of Europe? (German 100RON stuff please )

Gar-type-r, Millers octane booster works out at about €4 per tankful.

I'm coming to live in Ireland!! That's 20ppl cheaper than V-Power/Tesco 99RON here. Surely at that price and as has just been said a bottle of Millers Octane Booster per tank is not going to break the bank. You're paying £12 a tank less than we are. You can get a good price on Millers if you buy it by the box which i think is 12 bottles a go, and you'll probably get it for £3.50 a shot. That's peanuts really compared to lashing out £500 - £600 for a remap and losing power!! Then when they finally introduce 98 or 99RON you'll have to do it again although it will work out about £150 to have the map played with a 2nd time.

around 4 to 5 degrees timing.. worth 5 to 8bhp each..

however if remapped with better fuelling than standard that power can be regained.

As said already EcuTek dealer can remap the standard ecu
