Can any Police here explain why 4 camera / anpr vans, 3 traffic cars on the way into Southend industrial estate last night?

Bit narked, because some scumbag in a van hit me with a laser for over 5 seconds when I wasn't even speeding. Isn't this against the law?

Secondly, NO vans in the residential area. What's going on? I'm writing a letter to the Police chief of SOuthend demanding an explanation of this disgraceful situation.

And I haven't even got to the road block yet, and harrassment the BOB's were getting.

This ain't on. Police are going to lose all respect in the county if this continues.

PS, hi Dan, your Exige is damn fine car, I was well impressed with it!! keep it shiney side up, and can you post me an mpeg of the drive out?

As the seafront is now a no go area in Southend for the max power muppets. They are using industrial sites or the big car parks at retail centres.

i saw a convoy of them on their way into southend at eastwood at around 1815 yesterday evening so i was cautious going home from work this morning past fairfield bmw (a favourite for kojak and his kodak).

my brother in law got a nip about a week and a half ago after a cop hiding behind a bush at rayleigh wier caught him at 90 on the a127 at just gone 1am on a sunday morning along with about 5 other cars(not racing, just making progress on a clear stretch of road)anyway a couple of days ago he got another letter from billericay scamera center saying that they had got the date wrong on the nip as the camera was dated incorrectly and he was not going to be pursued on this offence because of lack of evidence......essex police admitting they made a mistake????...if i hadnt seen it for myself in black and white i wouldnt have believe it!

yes a fun evening Carl, VXT's are no slouches...

I have never seen so many speed checks in place on one stretch of road..

I have to post the piccie below, he decided to tag along on the front right wheel arch coming back from Southend. after he held on for 2 miles or so I just had to get out and pick him off and put him on the verge. Could now be the worlds fastest snail....maybe trying to tell me something

I've written a letter, it'll be in the post today, and I'll attach a copy here later + any replies. Very annoyed with Essex police at the moment, it looked driving into Beirut!!

Hi Dan, that was seriously good fun, and reminds me just what a laugh your own local back roads can be. Where on earth did that snail come from? couldn't have been down the seafront???!

Still interested in seeing some mpegs tho' ! hope to see you sometime in the future.

Essex: Warning to young drivers
Young motorists across the county are being warned of the "vigorous" measures that Essex Police is taking to prevent dangerous driving this summer.

The widespread clampdown and high visibility presence is hoped to stop "boy and girl racers" threatening others' lives by using the county's roads as their own personal race tracks and free arenas to show off to others.

Chief Insp Tim Stokes is leading the special operation and has witnessed the full range of stunts carried out by drivers.

"Every weekend we see some crazy stuff, with nearby crowds who are the potential, innocent casualties. We have several contacts throughout intelligence sources, so we'll be speaking to them in order to let them know of our intentions and the powers available to us," said Chief Insp Stokes.

He added that this intensive approach by police, in conjunction with local councils and the Vehicle Inspectorate, would ensure visitors to Essex, as well as residents, enjoyed the county's seaside resorts and other attractions in a safe environment.

Recent legislation now provides police with a variety of methods to stop such dangerous activities taking place and gives them the power under the Police Reform Act 2002 to seize vehicles deemed to be in an unfit state or driven erratically.

Together with everyday powers under the Road Traffic Act 1988, mobile police units fitted with automated number plate recognition will monitor the influx of vehicles travelling towards Southend.

"We take a very serious view of this sort of recklessness on our roads. We admit this is a big nut to crack, but if we don't do something then someone will be killed," said Chief Insp Stokes.
