The paint on my Cerb is getting a bit tired and I'm thinking of treating her to a full respray.

Any recommendations from the PH community on a bodyshop that is going to provide a hassle free service, and do the job right?

Cheers

Very slightly off-topic but what sort of money, ball-park figure, does something like this cost?

Not sure, but I've had a quote of a mate to do the front end for 750, so at a guess, around 2k+?

I've seen some very good full resprays, including full colour change done by

http://www.option1sportscars.co.uk/index.htm (about £3k for Griff)

...... a good respray requires good preperation

I'll get back to where I came from now hehe

Thanks all for your recommendations. Will be following those up.

Think I'll go for the headlight upgrade whilst its in, but not sure on which style to go for yet, Sp12, Sp6, TypeR or standard.
Will be keeping the standard alloys, unless Phil can do me a good deal on some SP's. smile

Anymore suggestions very welcome and appreciated.

wavey Hi Andy - drop Plasticman an email via PH and see who he uses. Obviously he is always getting stuff sprayed smile.

As obscure as it sounds, Bassingbourn garage do excellent paintwork, but you may have to queue! Worth talking to them though. I will take mine there when I've saved up! smile

OK, I phoned up most of the suggestions. 1 or 2 were ok, and others were a bit inconsistant with what most of the TVR community suggest regarding price, prep, diagnosis, etc.

Are there anymore recommendations at all. Has no one had a respray from Austec, TVR Power, TVR Bodyshop, Racing Green, etc and been happy with it?

Any places I should steer clear of? (please mail me offline with any bad experiences)

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Ewelme coachworks have painted my Blue one before. I've used them a couple of times, even though they're not local to me.

Might not be the cheapest, but there's always lots of fibreglass cars there

I had a front end respray and light conversion on my old cerb. I used TVR Bodyshop and they were excellent.
It was imperial blue your guide.

Slightly off topic but theres a very nice cerb up for sale at the moment that could do with a front end respray so I phoned round a few dealers to get a rough idea on cost.

Generally they all came out about £1200+ VAT for a standard metallic colour.

Although one dealer quoted £3000 for the front end respray and that jumped to £6000 for the front end respray to include under bonnet and in the places you wouldn't see...

Who in their right mind would pay £6000 for a front end respray?

Speachless as to how some places stay in business...

There used to be a guy called Lee who did work for Waldonway in Maidstone.

This was 5 years ago but he charged £200 to fill the gouges on the bottom of the splitter where the previous owner had grounded it on the pavement, and respray all the front up to the bottom of the lights.

Work was top class though it was non-metallic yellow (same as first picture in PH Heroes: TVR Cerbera).
