Any Chevy Lumina Experience??

What year are you interested in?
All 2000 Model year onwards are essentially Holden Commodores.
The S would be a V6 version. I am pretty sure they get the VE versions now which are the same shape as the VXR8.
On a side note they have also just exported a version called the CR8, I think it is, which is the same as the VXR8 in the UK from the same HSV factory In Australia.
Ringram's favourite, the VE SS Lumina, has a 6 litre V8 engine but it has been known to have better heads than the LS2 equipped VXR8.
Most of the cars are Autos though or the early VTII(1999),VX,VXII,VY,VYII, VZ(2005)versions were. I am not sure now.
I have jumped around a bit there. The VE SS Lumina is similar to a Holden Commodore SS, the CR8 the same as a HSV R8 or VXR8.
In Oz the VE SS has the L98 270kw 6 litre V8 engine, the HSV R8 (VXR8) the LS2 307kw 6 litre V8 engine.
The VE SV6 as it is called here has a 195kw V6 alloytec engine.
www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action/vehicleentry?vehicleid=4 is a link to the Commodore range in Australia.
SS-V is a luxury version. They also get the Limo versions over there, the Caprices, they come down the same line as Commodores but are a bit bigger.

I'm thinking of getting an "S", or possibly an "SS" (depending on other car and accommodation costs!). Has anyone experience of owning one in the Middle East? Obviously fuel consumption isn't an issue, but any real faults / problems??
Hi Dan - try contacting Gary Monks - 'Saudi SS' on here...he's got a 2-door Lumina SS in Dhahran...very helpful chap too. You should get his email from the Members link at the top of the page.I sold my 53 plate 28000 mile ss back to the shark that sold it to me brand new for what I thought was a bargain price of £22000. It suffered 4 automatic gearbox failures and ended up being the subject of a 3 year legal battle. Cost me over £30,000 in legal fees, the dealer over £50,000 in legal fees defending it and ended up getting settled out of court via professional mediation with me selling the car back to them still broken for £2500. Hope that if you buy one you have more luck than me!
