Recommended oil for E36 328i 122k miles

Whilst I am awaiting the arrival of my replacement Owner's Manual which, I hope, will give me advice on this, I need to top up the oil. What would be the recommended oil to use for my 328i SE? It has 122k miles on the clock.

hi mate.
i use mobile 1 synthetic,my engine is not loud atall but useing this i really noticed that it made my engine sound silky smooth so must be doing somthing right.

Im not to sure, but i am thinking a semi with a viscousity of 5w30.

I have a half-used 4 litre bottle of Esso Ultron SAE 5W-40. I think it'll be OK to use that but I'll opt for 5W-30 next time. The car burnt a bit of oil on a recent 300 mile round-trip so maybe a slightly thicker oil might help?

This is what was recommended:

8 litres of Fuchs Titan Supersyn 5w-40 and 1 Purolator Oil Filter Ref L27679

So what I topped up with yesterday was just about spot on.
