Been out and taken my first car photo for ages today. Wanted a shot of my trackday 106.

What do people think?

Wherezat then? Nice backdrop, reminds me of the Elan Valley, but I'm pretty sure it's not there. I can imagine a slightly different angle with a little less foreground and more of that water....

Derwent Reservoir I think?

Where those Lancaster things had a bit of a play about in WWII.

For me there's too much competition between the car and the reservoir for the viewers eye.

Excellent that you have strong distinctions between foreground, mid-ground and background but they're competing a little too much for my taste. Perhaps use a wider angle lens and get closer to the subject to distance the subject from its background?

Pretty good stuff Matt thumbup

Cheers Andy. I hadn't thought about using wider angle to get more front to back distinction in the shot. Might pop out again at some stage and try it out to see how it works out.

Its a nice shot. I'd like to see the shot from lower down (say wheel centreline height), a bit to the right (to frame the car against the waterfall) on a longer focal length/narrower depth of field. I think that would be a more dynamic angle to shoot the car, and the shallower DoF would throw the car more into focus.
