I'm not a techie by any stretch of the imagination, but I just started up the ro and lifted the bonnet to hear her tick and have a look around. I've noticed before but never paid attention, but from starting up cold, the radiator fan is always on. Is this normal? It's as loud as the engine. I thought these things only kicked in when the temp rose above a certain amount????

Any hel is muchos appreciated.

Forgot to mention, LS1 2004 Ro...

No direct experience of the 'ro but on other engines I've worked on this can happen if the coolant sensor is dodgy. The ecu determines it has no reliable method of reading the coolant temp so defautls into worst case mode and runs the fan all the time "just in case".

Does the fan switch off after a while or is it running constantly?

If the aircon is turned on a fan is on all the time, turn the air con off and see if it stops spinning

It happened to me recently as well. But I remembered that when I'd turned it off the fan had been running so I assumed that it was just reacting to the previous situation and ran for a while until it realised it wasnn't hot. driving
