I decided to take my 205 off the road for a little while as I decide what to do with it, and whether to keep it. In the meantime, I needed something to tool around in and I've always fancied an Ignis Sport. I recall evo reviewing it a couple of years back and liking it a lot.

It's received a mixed reception from friends and family, my wife doesn't seem to mind it (I think she's just trying not to hurt my feelings), whilst my sister seems to hold it in particular contempt based on it's looks alone.

Love or hate the looks, you can't help but enjoy the drive, it's like a go kart.

Seems the previous owner upgraded the brakes to some vented/grooved numbers, and it's running super sticky Yokohama Advan tyres, which make it fun in the corners.

First set of car photos I've taken or posted here in a long while, plus I've tried something a bit different with the PP on these.

Feel free to tear them to shreds - oh and please ignore the dog's head poking up in the rear window... I didn't notice the little sod or I'd have made him lay down!

smile

I think this car is the very antithesis of stylishness. But I like it anyway, and I'm not sure what that says about my taste...

Oooo - look at that seagull lining up for a spectacular run!

Nice shots and treatment - also like the vinnie.... vigenie...black bits round the edge. Have you tried Filter>Render>Lighting Effects in PS? I rediscovered this the other day and have been playing a bit....

That you haven't got any, I should think!!! If it gets you from A to B you can't really knock it, I suppose - and I can see what you mean, it does appear to have some redeeming features, apart from the dog....

Nice pics, like them a lot.

Whilst it can't be described as having classic beauty, there is a purposeful angle to its apprarance, very 'industrial.' If it is fun to drive, then that is great and surely the most important factor for a motoring forum.

Well it's nice not to hear a torrent of abuse about the Ignis anyway! Shall we say a trickle of lukewarm comments? smile

I think part of what drew me to the car was that I've only ever seen one on the road since I saw it in evo, which must have been 3 or 4 years ago. I suspect this also speaks volumes as to the aesthetic appeal the car has.

I've owned my 205 GTI for 3 years now, and it's only once let me down due to the garage (pug main dealer) fitting the wrong spark plugs. That being said - I've spent the whole time I've had it waiting for it to go wrong in a big way. The Suzuki doesn't have the visceral qualitiy of the 205, you don't feel as connected nor does it handle as directly. You can't attack corners with the same kind of commitment that the 205 allows.

On the other hand, it doesn't have the same feeling of fragility - being 10 years younger I'd hope not I suppose, but I don't think the age is all there is to it.

The pug will almost certainly stay in some form or another. Quite what that form is I haven't decided. Uprgrade the brakes and suspension and stick with the standard 8v engine, or go for some sort of engine swap... A Xantia turbo seems like a nice idea scratchchin
