I am on the brink of getting my first Ferrari -a red 360 Modena F1 with charcoal interior.

After 5 years of Porsches, the temptation to get a F and fulfill a lifelong ambition was too much to resist!

It is from an official Ferrari dealer, so will have a one year warranty, but is there anything I should be aware of, well known technical faults etc?

Im sure people will think Im a w*nker when Im in it, but I wont care. I am a w*nker, but at least a w*nker in a Ferrari!

Hopefully this will be the start of a beautiful relationship!!

Oh, and the dealer is pushing hard for me to get the "swisswax" treatment to the paintwork - anyone have experience of this? I have always resisted paint protection on past cars....

Also, how do other road users react to you? The Porsches have never really attracted too much abuse.

Thanks guys, it would be nice to join on one of your Sunday Essex runs one day (so close to me)....

Porsche and TVR are also open to people making assumptions about you too, so as you say, at least you're the one in the nice car.

You will get more good comments than bad by a healthy margin ... and lots of people taking phone pics.

I would have thought the dealer would use Swissvax as part of the deal. It is good and does make the car look lovely and shiney ... not sure about protecting it that much though. One of the detailers on here would do it, or Zymol for around £300, so bear that in mind to what the dealer wants to charge.

To be honest Marlon, I can't think of a nicer place to be a w*nker....hope the seats are leather though!

In additiona to burrianas comment - Zymol is great and well worth the nicker!

Yeah, prepare to be treated with more respect if you turn up at any posh places!

Great cars and every petrol fill is a public photo opportunity. Never had any abuse. Enjoy.

Thanks for all your positive comments guys.

I closed the deal, part exd my 997 (not a bad price either) and picked up my 360 Modena last Friday. It was sad to see the 911 go, as I had a lot of fun in that car, but the F was just to hard to resist!

It was a magical experience and a long-held ambition fulfilled driving the car out of the Dealership (Dick Lovett Swindon), driving home the thing I noticed most was the amount of people who stare at the car (shouldnt really shock me, as I used to stare blankly at any Ferrari that went past!), and how special it feels to be in, compared to any Porsche, bar the Carrera GT.

The noise is fantastic (still tempted by a Tubi -is this the best option for an after-market exhaust?), and the car has amazing road presence. I even had some guy shout at me just how lovely the car was an hoped I enjoyed it. This was a real suprise for me, as I have encountered a lot of jealousy when in other vehicles.

Now, where's that 430 brochure hehe

Well done on the car. It sounds like one of the cars that I shortlisted when I was buying mine (active suspension option and red stiching)

Sounds great, cant wait to see the pics!
How does it fare against the porker? not just in terms of speed, but is the build quality good enough to keep you happy? handling/power delivery etc.

Congrats on your new purchase.
