So, as part of the quest to Emerald-dom, now have a wide band sensor and gauge plumbed in and working. Not driven it yet so what do you reckon it's going to reveal...?

Idea is to grab some data of what the 14cux is doing in daily use, and then try and emulate that as a starting point with the Emerald

On my Griff the fuelling is pretty good on the whole, about 0.88-0.87 Lambda on full load and leans off to 1.1 lambda on cruise and 0.94 ish low to mid throttle around town

Right, having driven in the 60 miles to work this morning, quite surprised just how stable and close to 14.7:1 the existing set up is. Leans off a bit on trailing throttle as you'd expect but haven't seen much 'over-fuelling' evident which is a surprise. The lean/rich 'cycling' it does is also quite obvious.... best bangs on over-run seem to coincide with about 18.5:1 AFR for some reason.

Impressed with the sensitivity of the Innovate kit, responds instantly.

Interesting that the fuelling is that good. If I had guessed I've have expected the mixture to be overly rich. Don't know why!

If you have unburned charge in the exhaust the wideband will see that as very lean and then it will go 'bang' when it lights in the exhaust. Probably not very good for the wideband sensor! smile

Jules has said on here more than once - that pops and bangs are often caused by lean mixtures - as they don't ignite and often continue to burn in the exhaust .. as pops and bangs..

Do you have a guage to show AFR or just looking at the data on a pc / pda.

What sensor and gauge are you using and where in the exhaust have you mounted the sensor?

Sure, will do... it's in the 'Y'-piece, just below the join entering from the front (but mine is a decat Y piece from ACT, not the OEM dustbin. Put the WB controller in the n/s wing void (stuck it to front arch inner srface with sikaflex, accessible through headlamp hatch) and run bales back to passenger footwell (hole in top left below dash). The tail from the O2 sensor is just long enough to feed through if a 'keyhole' type opening is filed above the inlet hose where it passes through wing inner (be careful here as there is a blind void in that area, the wing/arch structure is more complex than it looks).

I think the boss was the separate one supplied by Emerald as it was stainless and the innovate one did not ssem to be IIRC
