Polo cam belt change?

Had my 2001 Polo for a month and the service indicator has come on.
Going to have it serviced by a local independant, but was wondering about the cam belt. The cars only done 31,000 with FVWSH. I cant find any history of the cam belt being changed as yet.
Does it need doing, and if not what mileage should it really be at before I get it done?
