Some of you may think of this as sacrilegious, but has anyone fitted a subwoofer into their Elise? Mine already has 4 speakers, two in the front of the sills facing the seated driver and passenger and the other two over your shoulders semi behind the seat, which doesn't leave much room anywhere else. I'm not looking to have something to 'chav up' the car and blow my eardrums out, but since I got one for my house HiFi (a Linn L-series active unit), I've become a convert to having a dedicated bass source. Any ideas?

There were a couple of threads about installs people have done. One was a Pioneer active sub behind the seats, the other an Alpine active sub in the pax footwell.

We have done a couple in the passenger footwell, one was built in with an aluminium finishing plate and the footrest was removed. The other one was the Alpine 1600 which was a cheaper option and again went in the footwell.

when you build one in the footwell did you replace the footrest with an enclosure with the speaker build it? Or did you forget the enclosure and mount the speaker on plate?

thanks

Yes we took the footrest completely out for this one customer. We had a custom built finisher made to keep with the interiors aluminium finish. It was a rather large sub though, it meant the passenger had to sit with their legs quite cramped smile

I've got one of the little Alpine jobbies fitted in the pax footwell of my S1. I've used heavy duty velcro on the bulkhead and the top of the footrest to hold it in place. Hasn't moved yet despite my best efforts on a couple of track days.
