Hi, i'm after a bit of advice about Z4's. I'm looking to purchase in the next month or so, preferably a private sale.
I am after a black vehicle with red or cream leather.
My main concern is whether to go for a 2.5l or 3.0l car? My commute to work is only 6 miles so fuel consumption is not a daily concern. However, I am planning a wedding in the Lake District (160 miles away) so I will be making numerous trips up there in the summer.
Is there a noticable difference in power / mid range torque between the two cars?
Is there anything else I should be looking out for when viewing these cars?
Finally, are run flat tyres to be avoided? I've read that they give a hard ride? I've owned an Elise for the last two years so i am used to bone shaking suspension!

The 3.0 is a great engine, I think it makes the car.
My g/f has a black one with beige interior and it looks stunning, although the downside is that it is very rarely clean.
I find the ride to be terrible, but as her rear tyres are now up for replacement I'm going to get some PS2s on there and see if it improves it at all - I'm fairly sure it can't make it any worse!

Another vote for the 3.0 si engine. It's fantastic.
Dunno what the difference is in insurance costs between the 2.5 and the 3.0, but in every other regard the 3.0 has the advantage over the 2.5: 315 Nm torque, compared to 250 Nm for the 2.5; 265 bhp rather than 218; almost a second quicker to 60; a second quicker on the 50-75mph times; and all this with no real difference in fuel consumption.
So I guess purchase price and insurance might be a touch lower for the 2.5, but I'd go for the 3.0 if it were up to me...

We have got the 2.2 Z4 (for sale I might add 
) and it's no doubt the sweetest engine of all the Z4's. There's barely any difference when driving between the 2.2 and 2.5 but the 3.0 goes noticeably better. A little more gruff but has got more torque. Depending on what you want the car for, I'd have a 2.2 or a 3.0, forget the 4cyl ones, cack.
