I've not been around for a while, and unfortunately I'm posting to say that my CBR600RR has been nicked (DX04 VND) from Rochester. Was stolen sometime between November and early January (I live and work in Barcelona) despite being covered and loaded with security. Thankfully they left the 'Strada....

Well on that note - my policy had lapsed (it was parked privately) and one of the things I'd gone back to do was renew it. frown

I'm sorry to hear this Desmo. Apart from crashing, having a bike nicked is every biker's ruddy nightmare.

Would you mind sharing what type of security they got through to steal it? I realise you might feel uncomfortable with that, but if there are any lessons to be learned it would be good to hear 'em if poss.

Might be worth taking your Duke back to Spain with you for a while, 'cause there's a good chance these scum will be back for that frown

Tell me about it - I had an off on my 749S in august last year too. frown

Bike had two chains - one through each wheel, and a Xena XN18 disclock/alarm. They left two other bikes there, and I'm guessing they took the CBR to use as a trackbike. There were drag marks on the floor, so they must've got it into a van on the spot.

I've had the same worry about the Multistrada, so have had a dealer collect it to service before I either sell it or get it to Spain.

Mate I am very sorry to hear that....and I hope the fktards that nicked it go through some severe pain in the near future..but don't suppose there are any openings at your company? I love Barcalona...

Can you not just renew anyway and claim in a few, er, weeks? I may or may not know someone who may or may not have done such a hypothetical similar thing. Cough.

I don't think that's good advice. Stealing off the insurance - difference between that and the original perpetrators? Think you have to put it down to experience!!!

Totally Agree.

Mate, gutted for you. Scum, absolute scum. I guess there's little point in reporting it? What are the chances of it just being sold on and it being spotted on the road?

I agree it is a left-field idea. However the OP was insured previously and has stated he would be renewing... I'm not sure I see the harm (in this isolated case). Anyway, each to their own, no worries.

I hope you don't have to make a claim ever again, reckon you may have a problem if you do.

Sorry to hear your news.

B'stards watch for a while and then do the dastardly deed. A friend's Grandmother died, notice put in obituary section of the local paper, within 3 days the house had been cleared out. Nothings sacred.

Whilst tempting the insurance scam route is IMHO a nono
very poor on the CV.

Thanks for the kind words, chaps. I reported it stolen as soon as I found it had gone....it wouldn't have looked good if I'd renewed my policy to claim, only to find out it had been recovered some weeks previous.

An expensive lesson.....

Shit. Hope they do recover it, but dont hold out for ever.

I can't believe everyones discussing an insurance scam with a insurance broker skulking around on here, bored out of his head at work...
