Track day tyres for Sagaris

I know this is a well discussed issue but as I am about to buy a set of boots for my Sag I thought I'd put it out there again!

Ideally I would like a track tyre that is not too hairy for wet road use (though I generally tend to be a fair weather driver if possible) and super sticky on track! I also understand that some tyres have supply issues such as Dunlop SSR which I understand where bought up by an orange Saggy

Recommendations appreciated and also where to buy them.

Toyo R888. They just dont like standing water. Buying them from TVR Monster.com would be a good choice.

You could try www.camskill.co.uk thats where i got my Dunlop SSR's from very quick delivery if they've still got them.

I had Steve at Simply Tyres fit R888 on my car. Great price and great service. Comes to your house to fit and takes care of the wheels etc. Give Steve a call on 07737 741634 and see what he can do. I will use him again.

Definitely best, and even better than standard in wet, but aquaplaning in deep puddles starts at 50mph.

One recent note of warning for R888 users that I've just come across - don't venture out below zero C!

Yes, I've got spare road tyres/wheels too, it's only to be expected with track-oriented tyres, as M3 CSL owners found out with a disclaimer to sign etc.

Makes you pay attention when you actually see pic of cracked tyre!

Best give him a call. I don’t see why he wouldn’t however he may charge. Re wet weather use. I took my car down to the Autosport show in heavy rain and all I needed to do was take it easy. Just don’t be temped to show what the car can do when you get an idiot in the rear view mirror. If you do you will be showing him how good a Sag is at ballet.

I run R888 on the Corrado for track days and they are awesome. There is far more road noise and rumble than, say, the T1-R (which are my road tyres), but the grip in the dry is just stupid!

If I were to track the Sag (something I'd love to do but the wife is dead against as a) the Sag is worth too much to shunt and b) I've spent a lot of money on the Corrado making it suitable for track as well as road) then I would have no hesitation in fitting R888
