i have just replaced my batter on my standard S2 and now it is stalling every now and then.
would i be correct in thinking that the ecu was sort of reset and theirfore need a bit of time to settle
it starts no problam after the stall but feels a little lumpy until further up the rev range

Mmmm the S2 manual informs that after reconnection a change in the engine performance characteristics may be noted for a period whilst the computer controlled engine management system 're-learns' some of it's settings.Maybe this is what you are wittnessing.I'm interested as I bought my battery today and will swap mine over tommorrow.

I disconnect the battery everytime I go away for more than a fortnight and never had any issues once I have reconnected. Either I have been extremely lucky (Thats not my usual way in life) or you may have some other issue.
Would, as already suugested, take the care for a good run and then see what happens

If the place you bought it from did not keep the battery charged, it may well be a tad flat and need a good workout.

However, one of the easiest things to do when replacing a battery is not clean the terminals before tightening them, and not tightening them firmly enough.

A loose connection here will most certainly give the problems you are experiencing.

I'd remove and clean the connectors, make sure the battery terminals are clean too, then tighten firmly, try again.
