G3, comes up brill everytime but best results are with a mop. if you are anywhere near chester have a drive out to me and ill do it for you, or show you how to do it whilst i watch over. A mop is a great investment!

But dont ever use the stuff dry! Damp cloth or mop at first, getting wetter.....
Lots of water in the final cut is the key to success with G3 or G10.

I wouldn't have thought you wanted 'cutting' on modern paintwork...When I was a lad we used to prepare cars for showrooms by 'cutting' with Brasso (cheaper than T-cut) and a Wheel, fine on old paint which oxydised and you wanted to remove the top surface of paint. With modern lacquered paints , I guess what your talking about is removing swirl marks in the lacquer....Hence these far more gentle products...otherwise you'll take the lacquer off completely.

A mop is a orbital polisher, again as said previously only use wet! and the certainly get wetter as you go along!

you can get G3 from Halford s i think, but also brown brothers or your local paint supplier should be able to get it.

as for the modern paint, shouldn't make difference. you should only use a cutting compound like G3 a few time in your cars life, it will burn through the laquer if yor car has been polished a lot in its life and the laquer is thin. But with regards to modern paint its fine! if not better to work on as a lot of the new waterbase paints are also high solid.

hope this helps ryan

Personally - I would seek the advise of a professional first .. and that would probably be free but if you know what you are doing and feel confident..

I've found this place good - along with local branches of Leonard Brooks and Brown Brothers

For G3 or G10 look for Farecela

You can find all the details on G3 at www.farecla.com

You can also call them on 01920 465041 or email them via the link on the website for technical advise on how to use the products and which one to use for different applications. There is also a distributor link on the website which will give you details of who's stocking the product close to you.

Sorry if the above sounds like a bit of an advert, its not suppose to be its just that I'm the Technical Director for the company, TVR owner, and I with my team develop the products.

Are modern (Cerbera onwards) TVR's laquered or straight paint ?

Sounds like you would be someone who knows.. my guess is that most are.

rev-rend - It is very rare now to find a modern day car painted in a straight colour. From the paint systems that I know Gerbil used at TVR, Cerbera's will have a Clearcoat Lacquer. Unless the person who specced up the car originally wanted a straight colour specifically then you'll be ok. What we usually tell people is to put a small amount of compound on a damp cloth and rub a small area inside the door or bonnet, if no colour comes off onto the cloth then it has a clearcoat, if not then its the other.

All the paint systems in the world from Scratch Resistant, through High Solids clearcoats, Waterbased Lacquers, UV Clears and cellulose can be polished with Farecla G3. The problem you get is using the old T-Cut on modern paints if its the ammonia based formula as the colour will die back after a couple of weeks

Hope that is of help
