Discussion
I have read many threads about what final differential ratios to go for on my Sagaris. The car at the moment is standard with standard gearbox and 3.46:1 diff. Having just changed from RR 4.0L Tuscan the car does not feel as quick although it is far less nervous and twitchy…
So, question is do I go for the 3.73 or 3.91 diff option (keeping standard gearbox meantime)
The cost to upgrade to 3.73 is £1400 inc VAT, add an extra £176 inc VAT for 3.91 option. This includes all labour, carriage and diff oil and sundries.
This is not an out and out track car, maybe visit a couple of circuits per year at the very most. More used for fast roads, some touring etc so I am erring towards the 3.73 option.
Would the 3.91 not cause greater wear and tear on clutch and tyres etc? Any advice appreciated before I take the plunge!

I found that being driven as a passenger in any car, especially a Sag will always feel quicker than when being driven by yourself, Daftlad kindly let me have a straight line drag in his Sag with CR box and 3.9 diff. This sold me a i now have the same fitted, cost about 2600 with Topcats racing who did a great job and included a full geometry set up.
Its definitely worth doing IMO

John's got a lot to answer for N

He did the same favour for me at Croft...
Always wondered what his commission was from TVR..........

Done and dusted, car booked into Hexham for a 3.73 diff to be fitted next Saturday. Decided against going the full hog and getting 3.91 and CR box for now after expert counselling from rpa.janwell and in consideration to the environment ......... not!
3.73 will suit my needs better and the roads I drive and will be a big improvement on the standard diff. I agree that the car is so well sorted that it doesn't feel as quick when you are driving it yourself, jump into the passenger seat and all that changes in the blur of an eye.....
Tks for all advice extended - Neil......question now is can I change the Diff Oil myself after 1000 miles run in

I was thinking about a CR box and 3:91 diff for road use, is it worth it for the road?
Who's doing yours Chris and how much? I've had good experience with Topcats in the past, but they a long way away.

Aiming to pick mine up next week with CR box and 3.91 diff, for many long-distance road miles plus track use. Who's doing yours Chris and how much? I've had good experience with Topcats in the past, but they a long way away.

I think main consideration is revs in 5th go from 3,000 to 3,750 (will be same as my old ImprezaT) so less relaxed but still ok on Mway I decided, with extra acceleration through the gears than with a 3.7.
You should overtake promptly, after all

TrackvRoad are stripping & re-building the box for me, while on jollies.Who's doing yours Chris and how much? I've had good experience with Topcats in the past, but they a long way away.

I ummed & aarrghhedd (alot) about whether to change the diff)
After going in Simmo's Sag round Croft that decided it.
After all who uses the top end????
i think I've been close once.....
You're welcome to come & feel he difference John anytime.
Have a look at this courtesy of "varleyhyd"
It's preloaded with the standard & close ratio gears & diffs. The default rpm is something like 7600.
Just compare the rpm figure for say 2nd & 3rd to see what you've got.
Hope that helps
Chris
