hey dude

LOL i cant understand it either, some people have too mcuh time ontheir hands! just think to yourself, the best thing you can do is get the car finished (in your own time) and to your own high standards and get it out on the track, that way you can prove them wrong and be proud of what youve one. i can tell you, and im sure many more can, that the feeling you get when your car finally hits the track. after youve put all your own miney, time and effort, without being spoon fed everything is well worth the wait, youll never be so proud in your life. keep your head up and keep at it.

Balls to em mate thats what I say. So long as its to spec and what you want who cares what the liggers, keyboard warriors and know alls think. If there so high and mighty let them show us their achievements so we can all pick holes in them.

Anybody can talk a good race but very few actually get it all together and get out on the track and anybody that manages that gets my respect.

Hey you think thats bad you should try running a front wheel drive manual transmission 15 second car in sportsman like I started with, the ammount of comments like "humph youll never do any good with that" were unreal. So satisfying to prove em all wrong.

May the 4th there's a RWYB at SPR (which maybe easier logistically and time wise). This is pending me being allowed to run, as that'll be the next spanner in the works possibly.
If you are going to a RWYB at either SPR or SCR with a Fuel car then you need to let them know in advance because it may require additional safety cover which so far as I know is not chargeable to you, you just need to tell them. I would imagine that there would only be spanners in the works if you just turned up. Just drop a line to or call Jerry Cookson at SCR or Darren Prentice at SPR.

Re the behaviour you describe above, there is a lot of undermining goes on. Been the subject of it myself once or twice and so, I'm sure, have others on this forum. That's not peculiar to drag racing though, that happens everywhere in life. And usually the target has done absolutely nothing wrong that they know of.

Try being female and into drag racing. Try saying you would like to drive and learn how to tune your own engine one day.

It's not just drag racing.

My sister does oval racing where the men and women race separate but the women can race with the men if they want to.

After winning pretty much everything at the local tracks this is exactly what she decided to do as a bit of a fresh challenge.

The treatment she received from a few racers was quite shocking, everything from being taken out of races on purpose (worst of which involved one of her cars getting rolled), Completely biased marshaling decisions and downright rude remarks like "I'm not being beaten by an F-ing woman". Seems the boys don't like getting beat.

Got to say I found it hard to hold my temper at times it was that unjust.

Jon, dont let the bast rads grind you down.

As you said, you're there, doing it, anyone who doesnt own a race car is in no position to criticize, much less judge you.

Get building, you know the first run will make it all worthwhile.... smile

Your post is quite refreshing! Thank you for the insight into such atrocious behaviour. I can take all the flack they want to give me, (i can dish out just as much with my potty mouth), but i cant pretend that it is actually prejudice *women can't park* and stereotypical behaviour, which should be left in the dark ages. I hope your sister goes onto win many more races. smile I applaud her bravery!

I think Drag racing is more enlightened than most motorsports, but it is obviously not a perfect world. It is getting better though.

Jon, As you get older you will find that a lot of the people you thought were friends, maybe were not such good friends, and that the REAL friends you have are the ones that stick with you through thick and thin, some times giving poor and/or misguided advise, but they are there to spur you on and help you out when you need them. (lifts/beer/oil/parts/labour) You get the picture.

Ignore whats on forums, as even the best intentions can come across sounding harsh and read wrong on line some times, but not all.

And if you spend a little less time worrying about what was said by who, You will have more time to finish the Dragster, and be able to stick two fingers up at them, as they watch you go up the strip !!
