World of Warcraft ruined my life
Discussion
Well not mine I'm not so sad to prentend to be some wizard or a pixie. But the game has so far cost 2 people I know their relatioships and another is on the brink of collapse. How many hours has the 3rd been playing it for?
6364! Yes a total of 265 days solid play time. How many others on here know of people that have lost relationships or their (social) lives as a result? Sad bastards in my opinion.

Can't believe the game is the cause... if the relationships were sparkling in the first place then they wouldn't play the game.
Quite a lot of people I know have this idea of a relationship where they spend time together in the evenings watching telly. Basically they're in the same room and they may pass comment on a tv program but ultimately that's it. Compared to that an interactive computer game seems pretty attractive.

Not really, in my case i just happen to be stuck at home with a new baby (and before that my other 2 kids) so tend to change from working to not-working in the same location, usually near a pc/console. The game ticks all the right reward boxes in your brain, it is addictive.scorp said:

I wasn't suggesting that that would be the only reason to play the game but that if a games was being blamed for the breakdown of a relationship etc etc...
Sorry I misunderstood. Yeah, I guess there has to be other more serious issues for a relationship to break down, or perhaps they were teenagers looking for the smallest sleight to break off a tedious romance.Dakkon said:
A friend of mine has lost his job after playing to the early hours of the morning, sleeping in, getting into work late, did this once too often, apparently he has 3 characters over lvl 60 these days though.
I forgot to say the latest one (mr 265 days) has lost most of his business to the game. He is/was self employed and went from having a busy business with a good client base to now only having one contract remaining.Silent1 said:
It's not worth the time invested, especially paying to do it!
But it's a game. If people enjoy playing it, surely it's worth playing. It's actually a very cheap form of entertainment when compared to just about anything else. I struggle to see how it's any worse than, say, spending thousands of hours in front of the TV.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
