Hi there, I've been in New Zealand for about 18 months and am due back in Blighty in April. Whilst over here, I bought a 2005 HSV VZ Maloo ute. I am shipping it back, but need help in determining what is required to get it on the road here. I think the main thing is that the speedo is in kilometers and I need a Miles Per Hour speedo for it. I do know there were quite a few Monaro's imported and I think the speedo's might fit, however, does anyone know where I can get an mph speedo from or fitted?? I think I recall seeing a specialist HSV centre somewhere in Northampton? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Smiler.

Walkinshaw Performance in Oxfordshire has been appointed by HSV as the UK Office. We imported some VZ Maloos, having had them built on the production line at HSV to UK Spec. I can find out the list of parts you need, and we can supply the parts. We are also a recognised HSV Service Centre.
It should not be a problem for you as the car is pre-owned, but we have certification documents also that were used for UK approval. We also have enquiries for eigth VE Maloos, should you decide to sell and go for an upgrade.
Regards
Phil.

That's brilliant news.Thanks. However, the VE's look too slab sided, more like a brick on wheels for me. The pre VE range have more subtle curves, easier on the eye, even if not as refined technically. But thanks for the feed back I'll be in touch.

You can change one cell in the tune to recalibrate the speedo needle to read in MPH rather than KMPH, then just put an "MPH" sticker over the Kmph on the dial. Easy.
No need for replacement dash or extra electronics

i have a ute imported from NZ and the speedo is still in Km - apparently you don't have to change it as its a light goods vehicle - if it were a private car then you would. I'm not sure if the law has changed since then but worth checking out - why spend the money if you don't have to.

Hey Mate, its a bit late on this thread now, but when did you bring your ute in and how did it go through an SVA without calibrating the speedo? Cheers
