Went out for a beer and food with a few local wedge owners last night .. and one onf the guys had bought along a LOtus Exige S.

The S stands for supercharger..

While taking about the little black kit car the cars keeper said it's too fast for the road .. and then threw me the kets and said he have a go biggrin

Now - I was out the door and into the drivers seat faster than a SEAC gets to 60 !

His parting words were - it rev's to 8,500 make sure you hit it..

What an invitation evil

This little car has (only) 220 bhp and red lines at 8500.. optional extra's were 4 pot calipers and Yokahama semi slick tyres..

Boy - that was some nutty machine.. I drove it for about 3 miles and it was like being in a video arcade driving game - everything in fast forward and totally mental.. NUTS.

If I owned it - I'd be banned within the week.

Needless to say it was great smile

Another of the wedge owners also had a go and thought it was mental..

I have always fancied one of those , if I could get my(cough!!) Waif like frame in it , however apart from not being practical , you know work and all that, I think I too would worry about killing myself or somenone and then there is the problem of getting back out of it .......Hhhhhhhhmmmmm!!!!!! sitck with the Wedge me thinks...though I have been thinking of getting a cheap Lotus for a trackday car ......sonar

Yup, I drove a 111R a few years ago. kicking out 197bhp from the 2 litre its a real go-kart isnt it rev.

the biggest thing i noticed is when you hit 6000 rpm and the variable cam kicks in.

Yes - a huge difference between a TVR and a Lotus is that the Lotus feels like a go cart, very direct and raw. The TVR in conparison almost feels more relaxed and civilised..

How's the sale of the Wedge going Jason ?

The Lotus sc , at Sywell Lotus meet last Sunday , went for a passenger ride in her , nasty high pitched screaming noise from behind my ears , unlike the gorgeous roar of the big wedge , no I don't want one ! Characterless but pretty !

A mate a work has recently got a 111R and brought it in the other day. I couldn't knock it as I had almost bought one myself a year or so ago, but I couldn't help but tell him that it was nice, but still sounded like a Toyota... wink

House sale taking priority at the moment. The wedge faults have all been done and she is well sorted now. Just taken her off the road on an SORN and transfered her to my dads garage. Dropped the oil and filters and replaced with newIf the house sale goes through smoothly, then I may just keep the car in mothballs for a few years and stable it with something more akin to a family. still very uncertain ... a bag of money would tempt me as we soon hope to have a bogger house to renovate / furnish

Agree , 111R is a great Lotus , remember having a discussion with Adam Quantrill at the 2005 wedgefest about them , bought a '7' in the end , much more raw than any other Lotus .
