hi my eng no is cvg 629 brd 0938xxx am i right in thinking this should mean the tappets are hydraulic sorry to bother you again but i have lost the plot if anybody knows the difference by looking at them i have sort of taken a couple of pic of them you should find them on the link below.they become clearer if you enlarge http://kenpage.myphotoalbum.com/view_photo.php?set... many thanks
I don't want to get bitty, really I don't, but there are countless threads on here about this including one just the other day. I don't know how many times I and others have said "you can't tell just by looking at them". The photos don't tell anything, I'm afraid.
As far as I know, the hydraulic lifters were only fitted to the catalyst-equipped cars (and even then, not all of them). I don't think any of the non-cat cars, particularly the S2, had hydraulic lifters.
The engine number is probably the best indicator but I don't know how to tell from that. Somebody has explained that already on another thread too. If I ever need to know I'll use the search function.
