Anyone up for a February run out?

I'm thinking along the lines of the Peaks Run, so whos up for it and what date?

1. car.chic, Nicola, Porsche 944
StarkAmberThorpe regulars, "new" people are also invited of course (especially if your a Porsche driver! As there seems to be an awful lot of TVR's about!) wink

It would be great to get as many turn up as the Slow Car Run Out!

I'd be interested if im allowed, unfortunately a sunday would probably be the best day for me.

I'd be in a Golf GTi though so no porsche or TVR. frown

I would be keen, need to give the Exige a good run out rather than the everyday trip to work and back! Any ideas on route/distance etc?

Cheers, Jonny

Normal Peaks route goes around the loops from Buxton to Macclesfield, Congleton, Leek etc. Usually 50-100 miles all in depending on who is leading and how lost you get.

It won't be the 17th as that is the RWYB at Santa Pod!

We are going to try and make it a Saturday, another Porsche woo and yay indeed though don't be surprised to see my little old 944 leading the way. smile

O/T How are you finding the Boxster?

ETA: You've got an RV8 too? lick My mums looking for one of those at the moment! So if your thinking about selling ...

Picking the Boxster up tomorrow. I've sold the RV8, plus 2 other MGs frown to pay for the namby pamby modern sports car hehe had enough of being up to me elbows in grease and lumpy bitter.

The one thing i must warn you about the MG RV8 is that the steering is very, very heavy. As in drive it with forearms and fists rather than the fingertips. Which i'll be able to use with the Boxster. yes

So you've no MG's now?

I've not driven an RV8 personally but my mum has so I imagine she knows what it's like.

Not right away but possibly this time next year I may well be buying an MGB as a second car for myself I really like them but think the 944 is an easy classic to live with on a daily basis, I've really got into the old car thing! biggrin

Boxsters are fun and the steering is light (compared to older cars) well all modern cars are! You may miss a bit of feedback that you get in older cars but it'll be faster biggrin Possibly not than the RV8.

Things I would say to watch out for would be oil, keep it at 3/4 full, also front suspension arms are a common problem they are £180 each from the OPC and they should charge you for one hours labour which on a car over four years old is £90, just beware Porsche don't charge more on anything.

The roof if it has a plastic window should be lowered half way then you should get out of the car and "chop" the window down then lowered the window electronically, do this everytime.

Services should be as the "book" if your buying from an OPC I should imagine they'll give you one and beware of 'discs and pads' Porsche love to say theres something wrong with them.

The Boxster is a wonderful car though and I really enjoyed mine, hated to let it go.

Possibly. As long as it isn't a 'nutters' run. Few other thing going on this month, too, so don't want to commit.

Whatever made you think I'd be involved in a nutters run?

In the answer to your question, no it won't be a nutters run, just a nicely sprited drive smile

Ok this month currently, but things get silly in March when I am replacing bathroom (as well as going to the Far East)
