I'll second that, so much better than the irritating 'y'all ready for this' followed by terrible eurobeats

I believe the current version is a bizarre mix of Emerson, Lake and Palmer's version of "Fanfare for the Common Man" (originally by Aaron Copeland) and 2 Unlimited's "Get Ready for This" [1] which samples the offending line from "It's Funky Enough" by an American Rapper calling himself "The D.O.C." There was some discussion recently about replacing it altogether to which I suggested 'Fuel' by Metallica. I would be quite happy for the current Fanfare (with or without "y'all ready for this" to be honest) to stay mind.

A fair choice, but to be honest, I can't think of anything that would do a better job of introducing the fuel cars than "Fanfare for the common man". Sweden last year was a perfect example of even a track I really like ("Planet hell" by Nightwish) not really working as a suitable introduction. It just doesn't have the same qualities that make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Maybe that's partly Pavlovian, but whatever, it works...

With regards to the 'Fanfare for the Common Man' tune. Hey!!!! lay off the tune,I grew up at Santa Pod Raceway with my late old man Raymond Feltell and my Mom and brother. Everytime I heard that tune over the PA system I knew that the only place to be was at track side. Thats when everybody knew when the big guns were firing up behind the tower. I for one look upon that tune as the national anthem for Santa Pod!. OK the ' yall ready for this' part is a bit crap but it's normally drowned out by the burnouts by then. Leave alone!!.

im fine with ELP's "fanfare", its the added "SPR mix" that bores me to tears, though hopefully two nitro engines drown it out....

anyone know when it was first used?

I do worry that some younger ones will think SPR's version is THE fanfare for the common man.

Just tail the fanfare off like they used to....no need to kerfuffle in a replacement and voila... just like it used to be biggrin
