Before i start this is not a begging thread or a cry for attention, it is a way of apologising. ive decided to leave the forum. i love drag racing with all my heart, im happiest when im in the pits at the pod or shakey helping someone out or working on my own car, i drag race because i love the sport and because i enjoy it more than you can ever imagine. however over the past few days ive become really saddened by whats been said on this forum, and the fact that every time i try and put a point across it gets taken completely the wrong way or out of context, yes maybe its because i post stuff before i read it through properly, i dont know, however one thing i do know is that i never mean to offend anyone, and if that is the case then i openly apologise now. drag racers, teams and cars come in all shapes and sizes and everyone does things in tehre own way, thats one of the main things i love about the sport, its so varied, and by no means was i trying to slag people off by saying theyre having cars built by others or anything like that, and by no means was i saying anyone here was being spoonfed, so if it came accross like that, again i apologise. my friends know what im really like, i never intend to offend anyone and i always try and get on with as many people as i can, so to my friends ill cya at the track, and to those who still dont like me, well ive offered the olive branch, and if you dont take it then its your choice, but again ill cya at the track. hope you all have a sucessful year and get what ever you want to achieve

Crikey no! Don't just leave!
It's very easy on these open forums to be criticized, or to criticize others, but that's just the way of it.
Whatever you say there will be those who agree, and those who disagree.
Most of us have been 'controversial' at one time or another, but that is what these forums are about - it's an area to let off steam, to offend, to be offended without fear of actually doing harm.
Let's face it, just like the tabloids, the 'reality' programmes and the soap operas the forums would be pretty dull if all the posts went:

"Cleaned my car today. Looking forward to racing it"
"Yeah, me too"
"I race mine dirty"

etc etc.

Stay here. Keep posting.
It's what keeps the community alive!

Every so often people ask me why I am not so keen on forums. Well, here's one example (and you'll have to forgive me for expressing an opinion for a change).

I know Adam personally and he is a very pleasant young man. He loves drag racing, he is keen to learn, he helps others, he is giving his racing everything he has and he does not have a lot.

Ask yourself: if you had been sitting in a pub with Adam bench racing, and he had said about Nigel Mansell's kids being spoon-fed, wouldn't you have understood exactly what he was saying? Of course. You would not have said to him "Oi, are you having a go at me?".

The problem with forums is similar to a problem we get with certain subjects on our news page on Eurodragster.com: people are sensitive about them and so as soon as they see what the news item is about, they go in there looking for a slight and they will damned well find one whether or not it is there. In the case of forums it is not the subject but the name at the top of the posting which can decide its reception, regardless of what the guy actually says.

Adam's a young guy, he is going to express himself as a young person expresses themselves, you can read it in his postings. In the same way, you can tell from the way some of the rest of us write that we're rather older because our prose is a bit more measured and organised (Adam that is not a criticism). From my knowledge of Adam he certainly would not be deliberately controversial and he would never set out to upset anyone.

Couldn't agree more...
One of the problems with forums that it's not like being in a pub.
A direct conversation, face to face allows for an immediate response to a statement.
So, if someone says somethimg that you think may be an attack on you personally you can say it there and then, and the matter gets pretty well explained at the point and defused.
Also, in a face to face conversation you don't tend to pick out one line of what someone says and take the discussion off in a completely different direction to the way it was intended.

With a forum, as opposed to 'say' a chatroom' there is often also a delay between postings from the 'protagonists' which allow other people to post and direct the discussion down their own paths, often with their own axes to grind. Again, something else that would not happen in a face to face conversation.

I don't post much here, I'm more of a lurker than a poster, but I read the postings carefully before I think of replying, as I do on other forums just to make sure I have understood what it was that the original poster was trying to say. (Or at least think I understand it), and if my post would not add anything to the discussion that is constructive I usually don't bother.

It's a pity more people on here don't adopt that approach. Also, it would help if some people actually read their posting before hitting the submit button.

Dude, ignore it.

Stuff on forums never reads like it would in real life, exactly as Tog said.

I for one am really interested in your project, as I built my Fury BEC with drag racing in mind, having watched the old Kwak powered rail all those years ago at the Pod.

Oh, and I still fancy track daying a legend too.

Theres a wealth of knowledge on here, with the likes of Frosty and Bob Jarrett to name but two.

Besides, us spectators need to get our kicks hearing the behind the scenes stuff too !

Ignore the last thread and stay on.
