Quick question that has always foxed me...
How are race numbers decided?
I can understand that tne top 10(?) get numbered in the order of their championship places from the previous season but how, for instance is my mate's PRO ET car PRO 700 and The new Gold RV TF car TF 4055.

Who decides on the numbers?

Race numbers are decided by the organisers of the class, but if you want a specific number I think you can choose whatever one you like (after the top 20?) providing no-one else has it.

In SE we can choose pretty much whatever number we want at the moment; hence the large number of competitors with race numbers matching their engine capacity or year of manufacture. The championship winner normally adopts the number 1 for the following season.

If you are a member of Santa Pod Racers Club then your membership number is your race number. I don't know whether it works that way for APIRA.

If you want to race in the FIA then you have to apply to the Swedish Motorsport Federation for a race number, and the first digit of your race number is decided by your country.

But as Kiss My RS says, you can request specific numbers certainly for the UK and I'd imagine elsewhere.
