I'm buying a CBR600 from a guy who's just retired from selling bikes. The courier was meant to collect it today but Royal Mail haven't delivered my payment, despite me using special delivery.
He just text me saying if they dont collect it until Monday, he'll put a full MOT on it, he'd told me it would come with a full MOT, so he was going to send it today without the MOT!

Now Im really panicing that its dodgy and think I want my money back!

What shall I do? Or should I get a grip?

I'd consider ringing him and asking for an explaination of why it hadn't been mot'd already if collection had been arranged(many traders won't mot a car until they know it's sold-though should of been done if you'd arranged collection.

I'm also assuming you haven't seen the bike if a courier is picking it up for you?

The part about being a retired bike dealer may be genine, but also be wary of it as if he is still a dealer he may be trying to avoid offering warranty on the bike,
is the bike in his name on the log book or is it a trade in?

make sure you've done a bike history check before you have it collected, though it may be a little late if the money is in the post

I saw the bike at Xmas and put down a deposit on the understanding I would pay the balance at the end of Jan and the courier would collect in the next few days.
So he's had plenty of time to prep the bike!
He offered a 30 day warranty but seeing as Im 400 miles away is pretty useless.
He did own the local bike shop but retired last year. Im really worried too that the payment hasnt turned up from special delivery frown

Sent it special delivery yesterday, so it was guaranteed by 1pm today.
The track and trace site says my parcel "is progressing through the network"

Parcel? Non-sequential tens and twenties, then? hehe

Not to worry over much. Get the warranty stuff in writing, then he is acknowledging the fact he's a dealer, and puts his neck on the block for the 6 month implied warranty thing. Might be better if its not MOT'd, as its a good excuse for a bike shop (or the MT lot) to cast close eyes over the bike before you ride it..

Update on the Royal Mail site, "Your item has arrived at the delivery office and is out for dispatch"

24 hours bloody late, which now means I have to take time off work next week to meet the courier at home! Im so pissed off!
