155 silverstone track preping... part finding help...

as said in the title, im looking to track prep my alfa 155 as its going to become my weekend toy (as it was originally destined for)

ive had a bit of a nose around, but have lost all of my favourites that had links galore for suspension / breaks / exhausts / engine goodies etc etc etc

does anyone on here know of any good sources for these parts? any recomendations in any areas?

initially i will be working on the chassis and breaking and reducing the weight as much as humanly possible. one thing i have struggled with is finding new, light weight wheels that will clear a healthy set of front calipers and fit onto the hub... whats the best way of overcoming this, hub conversion with say a GTA or..?

hoping some of the very knowledgeable on here will be able to point me in the right direction. eventually im looking to get somewhere close to a BTCC rep that does the go aswell as the show, so throttle bodies, lairy cams etc... no forced induction, just a highly strung twinspark showing all the lil french cars up (heres hoping)

Popular mod for 155 brakes is Fiat Coupe/Alfa 166 Brembos....I forget what the Silverstone needs but fitting the whole suspension leg will ensure the caliper fits, otherwise a simple bracket can be used (as Q4 and V6).

These are on my Q4:



They generally need 17" wheels for clearance although there are one or two 16s which will work.

when i had my 155s a few years back i dealt with a guy called John who owned a company called Poweralfa - try it on google - he supplied chips brakes suspention ect.

I haven't had an Alfa for a couple of years now :-( but when I did Will Dick and Adrian at WAD Auto Developments near Wolverhampton appeared to know everything and anything there was to now about 155's and could get any part I ever needed.

Should be easy to find them in phone book but let me know if you can't, i should be able to dig a number out.

Good luck with the project, post some photo's for us as it develops.

thanks for the heads up guys, will start doing some research as and when work allows

first on the list of jobs will be a body resto to get her looking as best as she can (anyone know of any silverstone spoiler lift kits available anywhere?)

then it will be breaks and suspension plus making her as light as humanly possible

then the job is on with the engine, I'm thinking of sticking NA and hunting out as much go as possible without running the risk of blowing her up / having to rebuild every few months. thinking bored out, lightened and balanced, throttle bodied kind of thing running stand alone engine management etc etc etc

will be a slow project, but hey, thats part of the fun, watching her take shape infornt of your own eyes through your own hard graft

I remember these cars had a massive following in Holland when i was looking at tuning my 155s. The dutch forums have a lot of links where you can source parts and tuning tips.

That'll be an expensive engine build! Why not investigate sticking a fiat coupe 16vt engine into the 155, most likely be cheaper if you can get a subframe and ECU from a scrapper. That's the route I went when looking for more power from my track prepared 145. Tuning the TS is pretty expensive!

If you wish to keep running costs down for track days, it may be worth seeing what brakes you can get under 16" rims. 17" performance tyres are a step up in price and down in availability.

mainly because i helped my mate do the conversion into his Bravo last summer, and although its quick, i feel the essence of the car has been lost. i would like to try and keep the original block and work from there. i can do pretty much all the stuff myself, or have people that can do the odd bits i cant, so may aswell do it as best i can

re the 16" tyres, i can get 17" tyres nice and cheap and they arent ditch finders either, plus 17" wheels fill the arches just right IMO, a little look to go with the oomph will be nice

If you can get the 17" cheaply then that's obviously the better way. (Any info you'd like to share re sourcing gratefully received!) Completely with you on sticking with the TS engine. It's a brilliant unit and very much the heart and soul of the thing.

Rusty, i work next door to Sumo power, the Jap tuners that run the D1 and Time Attack, and they are sponsored by Toyo. plus i use their parent company for my customs clearances etc, so get my tyres for cost price knda handy with how quick i go through them mind

my sentiments exactly, the car will losse its soul IMO with an engine swap, yes ok its the same lump used in the Q4, but then i would just be lying to myself making something its not. plus i really dont want to have to make up yet another woreing loom!

Wrinx, sorry i havent said thanks yet mate iirc, the brembos are the same as th coupe 20vt and gta alfas correct? should be able to get a set easily enough through soem mates failing that, i have a mate with custom spec'd disc's etc with 6 pot calipers that he was going to fit to his HGT, but never got around to it, only prob is price would mean everything is held up for a few months
