Do the S series have limited slip diffs?

Hi all,

I'm new here, i am very interested in buying an s series but don't know a great deal about them(yet!)

Could anybody help me with the l.s.d question??


(I have a while before i can get one as I have a girlfriend who doesn't like me having nice cars!)

This is a bit like waiting for a bus...... (this question came up on another thread today!)

The only S's that have a LSD are the V8 and S4.
There's never many of either around - V8 400 odd made, S4 40 odd. S4 is 2.9 ford V6, but otherwise identical to V8.

thats right the s1,2,3 didnt have an lsd. i think the s3c did but anyway you can bolt on a 7.5 inch lsd of a cosworth to any of the s series cars. I did and the handling improved 10 fold!!

According to the PH guide the S3C did indeed have one (apparently along with a remapped engine with better response and more torque)

Have wondered whether a limited slip diff would enrich the experience or just be likely to send me into a ditch.

Whilst we're on the subject - does anyone know what type of LSD it was?

My S3c has an LSD which I believe was factory fitted, as mentioned a 7.5" diff from a Scorpio Cosworth is a direct LSD replacement. Though they're getting harder to find..

Hi - I have an S3c, To check if you have an lsd diff, is to hold one wheel still and get someone to turn the other wheel, if they can turn it and you can hold one wheel stationary then you do not have an lsd diff, if both wheels have to move then you have an lsd. I maybe wrong but I dont think so. However costina (Paul) currently has access to a lsd diff, i will ask him to check the above out.

My S3C does not as it failed the above - I am going to fit one, if my body off restoration gets completed.
