A bit trivial I know but, seeing as we’re now up to the 996 and 997 Cayenne (Sp?) what model designator system are they going to use for the next model after the 999? Will they go back to 901 and start to rename some of the newer Porsches after their earlier classics or will they go to 1000?

Hmmm… Porsche 1000 - sounds a bit like a Morris or a modern super mini

They never went from 901 in the first place, because Peugeot had rights to all 'x0x' numbers...

Hence the 911.

They could go back to 356, and try from 357. How about the 357 Magnum? Surely no-one has used that name before

I thought the cayenne was 955 obviously to confuse things then obviously Boxstaaaa is 986...so Porsche seem to have a few numbers to pick from.

Whatever it is, assuming it is another sublime carrera, they should call it the 911 and put a nice shiny italic 911 on the boot.
