OK. Don't laugh, but...

... I've just purchased a scooter.
I moved into a city centre back in September, and the roadworks and resultant queues I'm stuck in most days in the car are driving me round the bend.
I'm in the process of selling the car, so I can buy a 'real' bike (Looking increasingly likely to be a new Kwak Z750) and restore my manhood by the summer, but for now my two wheeled steed is one of these:-

(Despite being able to ride the 200cc version, I opted for the 125cc to a) Shift it on easier when I get rid and b) That my girlfriend may at somepoint in the future do her CBT and then ride it.)
I also got a very good deal on it, making it cheaper than a year old used model!

I am on the look for one i can commute with (only use the bike on the good weather) also would like 75+ mpg!!
Looking at a few up to 250cc, but i think a 125 with 14 ish bhp will be enough.
Whats it like on the m-way/duel carrage, can it keep up with traffic?
I have the 200cc four-stroke version, which is the one in the pic as it happens, and its great, does about 70mpg whichever way you ride it.
Only real scientific acceleration comparison I've had was upsetting a young lad in his mums Corsa 1.2 at the lights, after a granny start we both nailed it - and I was still with him as we passed the NSL limit I backed off at that point as he was starting to pull away and I was technically still running it in
Great machines imo, nippy enough to overtake stuff travelling at 50+, stable, reasonable brakes (I'm used to ZX6R/Fazer thou brakes...) and plenty poke for town and country riding. My commute is twelve miles of lanes in Cheshires, part B roads, part A50... it'll stay with 95% of traffic easily so its rare to have a car force its way past like you get on mopeds.
