Anybody got an EVO V here?
Discussion
Hi
I'm thinking about getting an EVO V in the very near future.
Is there anyone living in Bucks or surrounds that has one and wouldnt mind me having a look round it. Have seen a couple for sale that could be of interest but both are a long way from where I'm living. Ideally would like to have a look at a local one first so at least i know what i'm going to look at.
Also any EVO V owners out there got any tips and things to look for? I've been onto the Lancer Register site and done a bit of digging there and looked at the buyers guide there. What are they like to live with as a daily driver? I dont do huge mileages so i can afford to use one regularly.
Also who are good for insurance on EVO's? I normally go with A Plan as they seem to be very good on imports and sports cars.

i own a 6 so cant comment really on what the 5 is like really. however on the running costs its not to bad to live with if you dont have a heavy foot. of course the power needs to go down every now and then and thats really when your fuel will. im not having any problems with oil or any fluids which is good so there is no expense there. not had the joys of servicing mine yet (only had it 2 months) but in your research you have probably found out loads of info about that already.
anyway good luck in purchasing a nice 5 if you find one. as for insurance if you register on the mlr and buy the membership they give you loads of discounts on things etc and tell you top insurance companies to go with.

I ran an Evo V for 2 years, it was around 340bhp when I bought it.One of the best cars Ive owned - a shopping car one minute, a supercar slayer the next.
But the fuel & servicing is expensive every 4500 miles.
I also ate a clutch & the Front brakes completely warped in one lap of the Ring - look for one thats had a brake upgrade.
If you use it like it was designed for - it will cost you money.

So far my current insurers A Plan are coming up with the goods, I'm currently mid term with my 206 180 and to upgrade to an EVO 5 until June is only an extra £85 and even on a EVO 6 Tommi, £95 extra. Full year premium is about £600-£650 depending on which model i choose....
That's good insurance quotes. You must be old
If you can afford it get an Evo 6 Tommi! They hold their value much better, and you get the full blown rally look to go with the performance
