I have just been for a spirited drive with a passenger on board as the weather is great. However when I pulled up at home the car (97 Chim 400) was running quite rough and I also noticed the indicators were both showing as 'ON' (not flashing) and the fuel gauge was showing as empty. I was wondering if they had maybe pressed on something with the feet or caught a cable which may have caused this to happen.

I have had a cursory look at the electrics around the battery, nothing obvious is loose/disconnected.

Now when I disarm the Meta alarm the fuel pump makes a short dull noise (not the normal buzz) and the indicators light up and fuel gauge shows as empty. Note that if I turn the ignition on with the Immobiliser set the fuel gauge and Indicators work normally, until I disarm. The car will start but runs roughly with an erratic idle.

I have done a brief search on PH but not found the answer, can anyone shed any light on what is causing this or suggest what I should try next.

Thanks,
Jon

Would that just be on the battery or somewhere on the chassis as well?

Battery - chassis, more likely the dash earth and front one behind the rad I guess.. Well worth going through them all, clean, grease & forget (for a few years anyway) wink

very front of main right hand chassis rail you may have to remove rad to get to it

I cleaned mine up when I had the rad off
